Woodbine Casino Expansion Timeline
Toronto officially has live gaming tables.
The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation announced that its subsidiary, One Toronto Gaming (“OTG”), has received the necessary municipal zoning approvals from the City of Toronto to offer table games at Casino Woodbine.
In the meantime, the new station in the Woodbine-Highway 27 area is expected to draw approximately 14,700 individuals using it regularly for their commute. Casino Expansion Well on Its Way. Recently the Metrolinx board had to consider ways of approaching this new project and discussing the strategies for its future development. Casino Woodbine will be the new name for the OLG Slots at Woodbine. It is slated to become a 'top-tier' landmark gaming and entertainment venue. Given the magnitude of the project, it is certain that Casino Woodbine will initially operate within the existing building, with upper floors being used for the expansion of gaming beyond slot machines. Expansion of the Woodbine Racetrack is about to include a hotel, retail locations, and entertainment venues. The casino would be part of a large-scale complex that would have restaurants, shops, and office space. Casino expansion is about to make the venue even more exciting with some 5,000 slot machines and virtual table games. A casino complex of nearly 283 hectares could provide a welcome solution. Despite the fact that 2,500 new jobs have been promised, however, several MYRex members are concerned that the promises will not be enough - nor will the confidence of councillors like long-time expansion proponent Vincent Crisanti. And as a result of the approval, there are now 50 “live dealer” table games at Casino Woodbine.

This marks the first time that live dealer table games are available in the GTA.
According to a release by the Gaming Corporation, OTG has also added a diverse mix of new electronic table and “stadium style” gaming positions that can accommodate up to 331 players in addition to the live dealer games.

An additional 50 live dealer table games and over 300 slot machines are anticipated by the end of the year, adding jobs in the province, says the company’s president.
“This is another important achievement for One Toronto Gaming, made possible by the hard work from our team in collaboration with stakeholders including OLG, our regulators, and the City of Toronto,” stated Rod Baker, the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
“This not only is a significant step in the expansion and overall development of Casino Woodbine, but this additional gaming amenity has generated over 400 new jobs, and will create another 300 by the end of 2018.”
Earlier this year, Toronto City Council approved expanded gaming at the Woodbine Racetrack.
